Smooth and fine, with remembrance of small berry and light herbs. Elegant depth of tobacco and liquorice. Rich, clean harmonic with long persistence flavour. Very pleasant to drink. Perfect with grilled, red meats and aged cheese. Best serving temperature: 18 degrees Celsius.

  CASALI DI BIBBIANO Alfiero

Varietal Merlot of breed and importance from the hills of Montalcino, this is a tiny production item (only 100 cases were released in 2003, its first release) of great concentration and potential for aging, but also of flattering approachability for a cosmopolitan palate. Balance of black fruit aromas, with hints of chocolate, and a supple palate of focused flavors, never overdone, just right. In its varietal category, this is one of Italy’s best.

Casali’s “First Kiss” is a charming blend of Chardonnay, Malvasia and Trebbiano Toscano that seduces with freshness of perfumes and elegance on the palate. Clean, crisp but creamy, “Primobacio” offers excellent versatility at the dinner table but would also make a pretty aperitif served chilled.
